Before...After (Comparing Layouts)

After receiving feedback the layout on the left is preferred. Firstly the initial eye contact and how you read the cover is from left to right and with the circle being on the left it doesn't follow through the normal way you would read it. The circle on the left also covers up part of Eve's arm and looks too big for the page as it's pushing the artist back. It also emphasizes that the circle is bigger than Eve's head which doesn't look good because she's being overpowered and it makes her less obvious and forward. With the circle on the right, you are able to see the bracelets on Eve's arm, which is part of the clothing I've chosen as it's part of personality/image. Another thing you can notice is the burnt orange colour.  On the left one, the colour is in a zigzag shape which covers the whole cover which works well and looks better. On the right one, the burnt orange colour is 'clumped' at the top section of the page. This divides the page and also the three colours that I've used.

LOOKING AT THE MAGAZINE ON THE RIGHT

In the top section of my magazine the three colours used are:
  • Orange,
  • Black and
  • White
In the below section of my magazine the three colours used are:
  • Light brown,
  • Black and
  • White
and this doesn't equal out the cover. From my feedback a majority of my improvements consisted of minor tweeks and with this I've found it difficult to work out a good layout. With the additional writing added (as part of feedback) I've found it hard to position it correctly on the page so that it doesn't look too cluttered. This is what made me completely change the layout. I'm planning to move the barcode onto the right hand side of the page which will be beneath the circle, so that I can put the writing on the left hand side and this should help with the page layout and it should look more professional.

Other changes I'm going to make are:
  • 'ARTISTS INSIDE' non italic,
  • Circle on the right side of the page,
  • The orange writing back into the original position,
  • Move the writing into a similiar layout to the orginal,
  • Move the barcode,
  • Redo some of the coverlines to avoid any pixalation when printed.
